What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Downs & Stanford, P.C. may collect personal data from users and site visitors at the user’s discretion.

Downs & Stanford, P.C. currently utilizes Google Analytics cookies to track visitors to the site, but does not capture any data that would indicate who the user is, unless the user decides to provide such information.

Downs & Stanford, P.C. utilizes a general contact form to capture personal information such as name, phone number, and email address at the user’s discretion.

Downs & Stanford, P.C. also utilizes a HIPAA compliant form to capture personal health information for legal proceedings and case management. All information gathered through this means is HIPAA compliant and all information is sent via an encrypted system. 

Media

Downsstanford.com does that provide any platform in users can upload media files, and any information collected via contact or service request forms is not publicly accessible.

Contact forms

When personal data is captured when someone submits a contact form, the information is gathered only long enough for the information to be processed or answered.  For example, a contact form submission is only kept long enough for a response to be generated and a case to be opened, if relevant.  All information beyond that use is deleted immediately.  Information gathered is never used for marketing purposes.  

Cookies / Analytics

We currently use Google Analytics cookies to track visitors to the site, but do not capture any data that would indicate who they are.

Who we share your data with

Downs & Stanford, P.C. does not share site data with any other parties, including partners, cloud-based services, payment processors, and third-party service providers.

How long we retain your data

When personal data is captured when someone submits a contact form, the information is gathered only long enough for the information to be processed or answered.  For example, a contact form submission is only kept long enough for a response to be generated and a case to be opened, if relevant. 

However, information gathered through our case request forms may be captured and utilized throughout the pendency of the case. 

What rights you have over your data

As a person whose data may be collected, you have the following rights:

The right to be informed about the collection and use of their personal data when the data is obtained. 

The right to access your data. You can request a copy of your personal data via a data subject request. Data controllers must explain the means of collection, what’s being processed, and with whom it is shared.

The right of rectification. If your data is inaccurate or incomplete, you have the right to ask to rectify it. 

The right to object. You can object to how your information is used for marketing, sales, or non-service-related purposes. The right to object does not apply where legal or official authority is carried out, a task is carried out for public interest, or when the organization needs to process data to provide you with a service for which you signed up.

How we protect your data

To exercise data protection, we’re committed to:

  • Restrict and monitor access to sensitive data
  • Develop transparent data collection procedures

What data breach procedures we have in place

All devices are secured and monitored in real time for virus and intrusion detection. Endpoint security active protection uses real-time behavior monitoring and artificial intelligence to detect and block ransomware. Network virus sweeps run a quick check at noon and full scans of every system at night.

Downs & Stanford, P.C. does not currently utilize its website to obtain information from third parties.
